I am writing to express my frustration with Rep. Adam Kinzinger’s inability to represent Illinois District 16 responsibly. Kinzinger votes on legislation that contrasts with what is in the best interest of his district. He demonstrates a persistent inability to be accessible and available to his constituents. In short, Rep. Adam Kinzinger continues to fail his district and his constituents.
Kinzinger’s voting record documents a disconnect with his district and what is in the best interest of his constituents. Instead, Kinzinger is bought by special interests’ groups. Kinzinger received over $75,000 from Telecom industry for his vote to reverse the FCC privacy rule. Now your personal Internet data can be sold! Kinzinger voted for deregulation of banking/Wall Street by supporting the Financial Choice Act. This rolled back the protections put into place after the financial crisis of 2007-08 (the worse since the Great Depression). Consider for a moment what home values were prior to the crash and what they are now. How has that impacted our local economy?
Kinzinger also voted for the AHCA without considering the following: Only 17 percent of voter’s support repealing the ACA; (projected) 22 million Americans will lose health care; essential benefits will be cut; and the gains in both coverage and accessibility the ACA provided in women’s health will be lost. Ultimately, it is incalculable the damage Kinzinger’s support for repealing the ACA will have on his district. Consider these District 16 facts: Our medium income is only $52,101 and (estimate) 40 percent of our population consist of seniors and minors (perhaps those most in need of Medicaid). It is widely reported the Senate version of the AHCA is even worse on our seniors than the actual House bill Kinzinger passed.
Lastly, I have over 30 documented contacts to Kinzinger’s scheduler in attempt to set up a meeting between Kinzinger and five constituents within the following professional fields: Mental health, higher education, domestic violence-sexual assault, and small business owners. We have been consistently denied the opportunity to meet with Kinzinger. This conveys to us he simply does not care about his constituents, our concerns, and the democratic process. How can any constituent trust Adam Kinzinger to represent the people when he refuses to meet with the people? It’s time to repeal and replace Rep. Kinzinger!
