The LaMoille-Ohio Lions scored a 53-45 win over Bureau County foe St. Bede in the Lions Den Tuesday night.
The Lions (8-12) made good on 20 of 28 free throws on the night, including 13 of 17 in the fourth period, when the Lions’ lead varied between seven and 12 points down the stretch.
“It was a great team win for us tonight. We played as team and got the win,” L-O coach Kenny Shrimplin said.
Casen Cherry led the Lions with 15 points to go with six rebounds. Hunter Walzer added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Marcus Winn had 12 points and six rebounds.
St. Bede jumped out to a 20-13 lead with 5:27 left in the second quarter, but the Lions responded with a 3-pointer and two regular hoops to knot the game at 20-all with 1:45 left before halftime.
The Lions used a pivotal third quarter to grab a 37-30 lead at quarter’s end, holding the Bruins to 2-8 shooting from the field during the frame.
Hall 61, Kewanee 58: The Red Devils led at the end of each quarter break, but by the narrowest of margins in Wednesday’s TRAC East makeup game at Kewanee.
Hall led 17-16 at the end of one quarter and managed to go up by three at the half at 33-30. Kewanee made it a 1-point game again at the end of three quarters at 45-44.
Jimmy DeAngelo poured in 19 points for the Red Devils (17-3, 6-1) with Chance Resetich adding 14 and Trez Rybarczyk 11.
