Storm trip Red Devils, Tigers win at St. Bede

Friday night sports update

The Bureau Valley Storm have had an up and down season. On Friday, they were up.

The Storm took down rival Hall 67-52 in a TRAC East/Bureau County at the Stom Cellar.

Tyler Gustafson led four Storm scorers in double figures with 22 points. Kale Barnett added 14, Noah Johnson had 12 and Nate Paup 10.

For Hall (17-4, 6-2), Jimmy DeAngelo had 20 points and Ty Rybarczyk added 10.

Hall won the sophomore game 59-52.

Princeton 75, St. Bede 58: After a slow start, the Tigers cruised to a conference win at the Academy Friday.

The Bruins scored the first 11 points of the game, but the Tigers rallied for a 17-16 lead at quarter's end. PHS used a 16-0 run on the way to a 40-29 halftime lead.

Jamie Reinhardt led the Tigers with 20 points with Cole Adams adding 15 and Koel Hjerstedt 11.

Ben Bernabei had the hot hand for the Bruins, scoring 22 points and hitting six 3-pointers, three in the first quarter and another in the second quarter.

Freshman Paul Hart added 16 points.

DePue 69, Midland 51: The Little Giants outsehed the Timberwolves 20-6 in the fourth quarter to win going away in ri-County Conference play. Marcus Winfert had 21 points and 17 rebounds with Mario Quintana good for 16 points and nine rebounds, Johnny Raya with 12 points and Devin Borostowski with 10 points.

Somonauk 56, LaMoille-Ohio 42: Brady Becker had 14 points and six rebounds and Hunter Walzer added 14 points and rebounds for the Lions.

At Prophetstown: Sherrard beat Fulton 39-23

At Aledo: Alleman beat Riverdale 42-29 and winll face Hall at the Oregon Sectional Monday.

WRESTLING

Byron Sectional: Princeton and Hall wrestlers had success in preliminary rounds at sectional Friday.

Advancing to Saturday's semifnals were Princeton's Matthew Harris (113), Dallas Hill (195) and Chase Tatum (220).

Princeton's Jacob Ebner (152) goes for a wrestleback along with St. Bede's Dominic Bima (113), Charles Korey (132), Noah Setser (138), Nick Lough (170), Hunter Monterastelli (220) and Peter Sampson (285).
