Joint paint is described as an area of the body where two can be caused by many types of injuries or conditions. It can be discomfort, pain or inflammation arising from any part of a joint — including cartilage, bone, ligaments, tendons or muscles. Most commonly, however, joint pain refers to arthritis or arthralgia, which is inflammation or pain from within the joint itself. Arthritis pain is typically described as dull and achy and worse when first getting up in the morning or worse after prolonged sitting or standing.
One in four adults is affected by arthritis.
One of the most common types of arthritis is Osteoarthritis or often called degenerative joint disease. It can affect any joint, but it’s most common areas of interest are knees, hips, lower back and neck. It also can be found in smaller joints like your fingers or toes.
In normal joints, cartilage covers the end of each bone. This acts as a smooth cushion that helps the bones glide together. In OA the cartilage breaks down and wears away, leaving the bones without lubrication and a smooth surface to glide on, thus resulting in bone rubbing bone which can become very painful.
One-third of adults living in rural areas have arthritis.
Hip pain can arise from the joint itself and trauma is the leading cause of hip pain. Inflammation, swelling, warmth or redness may signal a problem exists. Did you know what you think is your hip may actually originate elsewhere? Inflammation of nerves, spinal cord dysfunction or even a hernia may be the cause of pain in your hip.
